Pain at the Pump is a Internet class on the driving forces affecting retail gasoline prices.  The topic serves as both an explanation of the factors influencing gasoline pump prices and as sample to illustrate the format of our on-line training.

The Oil and Gas Industry in Perspective is a course on the fundamentals of the oil and gas industry.  The course provides students with a basic understanding of the primary activities of the oil and gas business from the search and discovery of crude oil and natural gas through to the sale of refined products and natural gas to consumers. Students will learn how the industry is structured and fits into the global energy scene; how crude oil and natural gas are discovered, produced and transported; how crude oil and natural gas are transformed into useful products; how the major business drivers impact strategic decisions; and how the industry is expected to change over the next twenty years. The Search for Oil and Gas  is a course on the basics of oil and gas exploration and production.  The course will provide students with a basic understanding of the primary activities required to find and develop oil and gas reservoirs. Students will learn how oil and gas are discovered and produced, what accounting measures are used to monitor and report on upstream activities, and how the major business drivers impact strategic decisions. LNG's Role in World Energy Supply presents the fundamentals of liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations.  The course provides participants with a basic understanding of natural gas exploration, production, processing, liquefaction, transportation and regasification.  The non-technical seminar focuses on the business and economic issues of LNG including pricing, contract terms and trading.  Online learners examine LNG supply and demand trends including emerging markets.  The class will also review current and planned LNG projects around the world.  [Password Required]

 


A Layman's Guide to the Oil and Gas Industry is a overview of the oil and gas industry. The 2-3 hour class provides a basic introduction to the industry that can be used as part of a new employee orientation program.  The course provides a non-technical review of upstream (exploration and production), midstream (gas processing and transportation) and downstream (refining and marketing) operations.  Each section contains a brief quiz to test the student's knowledge of the subject. Oil and Gas Industry Financial Management presents the financial and accounting issues associated with oil and gas operations. The class begins with an overview of the unique aspects of oil and gas accounting.  Students will explore financing options and learn how the financial structure determines the company's cost of capital. Participants will learn how to analyze company performance by reviewing financial statements, calculating performance measures and performing peer company analysis. The use of portfolio analysis to manage risk and meet strategic targets will also be examined. Oil and gas industry examples and class exercises are used to illustrate the principals presented. From Wellhead to Gasoline Pump is a class on the refining, transportation and marketing operations of the oil industry. The course will provide students with a basic understanding of how crude oil is transformed into refined products and how these products are delivered and sold to consumers. Ethylene cracking and aromatics processing is discussed in an overview of petrochemical operations. Participants will learn about the driving forces, economics and strategy of downstream operations. Understanding and Evaluating Oil and Gas Investments is a class on the methods used to evaluate upstream oil and gas expenditures. The 6-8 hour course presents a non-technical review of land leasing and acquisition, upstream operations (exploration and production), and investment analysis (project analysis and evaluation). The class contains four hands-on exercises for students to apply information presented in the Microsoft PowerPoint slides.
